Free Guitar Tools for Worship

Everything a church guitarist reaches for before the first song: a tuner, a metronome, a chord library and a scale finder. They are free, they run in your browser on any phone or laptop, and there is nothing to sign up for or install.

Use them alongside the hymns on Hamd-o-Sana — tune up, find the tempo, check a chord shape, and lead your congregation with confidence.

  • Guitar Tuner

Tune up in seconds using your phone or laptop microphone.

  • Metronome

Keep a steady beat for practice and for counting the band in.

  • Chord Library

Look up any chord shape, with finger numbers on every diagram.

  • Scale Finder

See scale patterns on the fretboard in any key.

Why these tools help church musicians

A worship team rarely has a spare hour to fix small problems. A guitar that is slightly out of tune makes a whole congregation sound unsure, and a song that drifts faster with every verse leaves older members and children struggling to keep up. A few minutes with a tuner and a metronome before the service removes both problems before anyone notices them.

The chord library and scale finder are for the week in between. New players can learn the handful of shapes that cover most hymns, and more experienced players can find a fresh voicing for a familiar song or work out a simple melody line to play during prayer or communion.

Because everything opens in a browser tab, the tools are there whenever you are: on the phone in your pocket at rehearsal, on the laptop you use for slides, or at home while you practise the hymns for Sunday.

Frequently asked questions

Are these guitar tools really free?

Yes. All four tools are free to use as often as you like, with no account, no trial period and nothing to download. They are provided through GuitarApp, whose free widgets we embed on these pages, and the rest of Praise & Worship — the hymns, lyrics and chords — is free in the same way.

Do the tools work on a phone?

Yes. Each tool is sized for small screens and works in the browser on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers. For the tuner, use the phone’s built-in microphone and hold it close to the guitar’s sound hole or the amplifier, away from other instruments, so it hears one clear note at a time.

Which tool should a beginner start with?

Start with the tuner, because every other skill sounds better on an in-tune guitar. Then learn the four or five chords used in the key of G from the chord library — they cover a large share of hymns. Add the metronome once you can change between those chords, and keep the scale finder for when you want to play melodies.

Can I use these tools during a service?

You can. Many players tune quietly with the tuner between songs, and a worship leader can check a tempo on the metronome before counting the band in. If you play through a sound system, mute the click so only you hear it, or keep the volume low enough that it does not reach the congregation.
